Full Groom.
This is our most popular service - it includes a thorough wash using specialist dog shampoo to suit your dogs' skin and coat type followed by a luxurious conditioner. Your dog is then blow dried using a selection of dryers where the power level can be adjusted and lowered for nervous dogs.
Your dogs' ears are cleaned and plucked if necessary and nails are clipped. Your dog is then groomed to your wishes. All dogs can be groomed to breed standard or if you want to have any variations on this then these are followed. Dogs can have anything from a gentle tidy up to a full make over!
All cross breeds are welcome and suitable styles will be suggested.
BRUSHING
All dogs, regardless of whether they have short or long hair, require regular brushing, as it not only removes dead hair, but ensures that your dog has a healthy coat.The FURminator tool may also be used at this time. The tool was designed to grab and remove - not cut, but remove - undercoat hair quickly and easily. This specialised tool does not hurt your pet and significantly reduces the amount of hair being shed by your dog. See information below under 'De-Shedding' for further information regarding the FURminator.
CLIPPING
Depending on your breed of dog, this is the next stage in the process. During the summer months, many owners liked to have their dog clipped tightly, but we do not advise having this done during the winter months, as dogs need their coats to keep warm.
EAR CLEANING
This is another important part of the procedure, as it gives the Groomer the opportunity to check for any possible ear infections, and other problems, and to remove dead hair.
ANAL GLANDS
Not all dogs will have problems with their anal glands, but occasionally groomers will be required to express these glands. You will notice if your dog has a problem, if:
a)Your dog starts dragging his rear across the floor
b)Your dog keeps licking or chewing near his rectum
c)Your dog’s stool has become soft and mushy
d)You notice a foul or fishy smell coming from his rectum
When the anal glands are not sufficiently expressed, bacteria is given the chance to build up, and this can lead to numerous problems. Your dog can develop an infection, which if left untreated can progress into an abscess. The abscess can then rupture through the skin, leading to further complications.
There is an extra charge involved in this procedure, so please speak to your Groomer if you require your dog to have it done.
BATHING
This includes a thorough bath using specialist dog shampoo and conditioner to suit your dogs skin and coat type. Your dog is then blow dried and has a luxurious leave in conditioner brushed into their coat so that they stay looking and smelling nice for longer!
Hydrobaths are used by many people around the world to clean their dogs. High pressure water is pumped through the hydrobath and onto your pet, penetrating through the dogs coat to where the dirt is. The pressure of the water in the hydrobath massages the dogs and removes dead skin, dirt and excess hair. By choosing a shampoo that will complement your dogs skin, it wont be long until you see the benefits of using a hydrobath.
It is often hard for owners to clean their dogs properly, whether they are a large dog that wont sit still, a Husky with a double coat that is too hard to wet, a small dog who has skin problems or an older dog with arthritis.
Mobile Dog Wash offers a professional hydrobath service that comes to you. We use fresh water for every dog and a wide selection of shampoos and rinses. Each dog is washed thoroughly, conditioned and rinsed.
NEW DE-SHEDDING
This treatment really is the answer for you if your dogs hairs are a problem, causing hairs on the carpets or allergic reactions. It is perfect for dogs that permanently shed hair all year round.
A wide range of breeds can have this treatment and so far the most popular have been; Labradors, Golden Retrievers, German Shepherds, Collies, Jack Russell's and Cross-Breeds. Our de-shedding treatment can reduce your dogs constant shedding by up to 60 - 80%. All the dry and dead coat will be removed from your dog leaving them looking healthier and happier!
BLOW DRY
Again, most dogs enjoy this procedure, but we use handheld dryers in cases where your dog is nervous. If your dog is extremely nervous of getting groomed, perhaps it might be worthwhile obtaining a mild sedative from your local vet, which you can give to the dog before the groom commences. It is best to get your dog used to the grooming process from a young age, as they are less likely to be so nervous when they get older.
STYLING, SCISSORING, THINNING
Once the dog is fully dry, he or she is styled to your request.
NAIL TRIMMING
It’s important to have the dogs’ nails trimmed at regular intervals, as failure to do so will result in severe discomfort to the dog when walking and will end up requiring you to take the dog to the vet because of such issues as ingrown toe nails.
COLOGNE
The final step in the grooming process, is to spray apply a little cologne to your dog’s coat. Cologne won’t be added, however, if your dog has skin allergies or sensitive skin. The dog is then returned to its owner, looking and smelling beautifully, and ready for a night out on the town!
Remember: If you don’t want your dog looking like a Hungarian Puli, it’s important to get your dog groomed regularly! Your Groomer will be more than happy to advise how frequent that should be, based on your breed of dog.
