Since 1st January 2006 micro chipping has been a requirement by Irish Kennel Club. All puppies must be micro chipped before application for registration can be considered.
Each year many lost animals are taken to pounds and animal shelters and fail to be reunited with their owner because they have no ID. Collars and tags are essential, but can be removed, fall off or become damaged. Micro chipping offers pet owners the only truly permanent method of identifying your pet and linking the animal back to you. If you want to improve your pet's chances of getting home, micro chipping is your best option.
How does Micro chipping work?
The dog or cat should feel no more discomfort from a microchip implant than from a conventional injection. Micro chipping uses Radio Frequency (RFID) technology and cannot be tampered with, fade or be removed. The chip is deposited mid-line into the fatty area between the shoulder blades. The needle houses the microchip and is therefore larger than a conventional needle, however, a clever design allows it to incise the skin easily with very little discomfort.
What micro chips do we use?
About Pet-ID
Pet-ID's system incorporates an implantable RFID transponder (microchip), which has a unique number programmed into its memory. The microchip is implanted into an animal, usually under the skin between the shoulder blades in a dog or cat. The owner’s details, together with information about the animal, is logged onto the Petlog database.
With many years behind them of supplying identification solutions for the Pet owner, the Pet-ID team provide a unique product to help protect your pet:
A unique RFID microchip
Conforms to the Pet Travel Scheme
Painlessly injected under the skin
The chip has an anti-migratory coating
A unique collar tag is supplied for each animal
Your and your pet details are added to Petlog’s Database
The database operates 24hrs per day/365 days a year
In addition to the unique chip number, Pet-ID supplies a collar tag, also with a unique number which is fitted to the animals collar, and the number is also put onto the database.
The microchips we supply are fully compliant with the Pet Passport scheme and registered with Petlog Uk database, who are linked to the Euronet database which covers Eire and worldwide. This means if your pet is found abroad, authorised agencies can help bring you and your pet back together.
Once your pet has been micro chipped, it lasts for life! The microchip itself cannot be tampered with once it is implanted.
